Summer Internship Programs...
The application period for the 2012 Corporate Summer Internship Program is open from February 3, 2012 through March 9, 2012. The application process is a two-step process. Your application can only be considered if both steps are completed within the application timeframe.
What will I be doing?
Interns generally work 40 hours per week for approximately 10 weeks, in a supportive learning environment, working closely with their supervisor on specific projects for the department.
Through the CVS Caremark informative and fun Logistics Management Internship Program you will:
- Experience first hand what it is like to manage and be part of a Distribution Center team while gaining a basic overview of Distribution Center, region and network operations
- Work on a pre-determined project throughout the summer which contributes directly to company performance, quality, safety and service
- Earn competitive compensation
- At the conclusion of the Internship, you will formally present your comprehensive project that is tied to real world business activities and initiatives to the Distribution Center Management Team for final evaluation.
Examples of previous Internship Research Projects
- Suggestions on process improvement using performance calculations, time-studies and deviations from the mean on product flow from receiving to putaway
- Updating ISO 9000:2008 Work Instructions as a result of the implementation of a new warehouse management software implementation
- Establishing average Ti-Hi to use for calculations, Freight-Runner performance calculations and identifying average receiving volumes on a weekly and monthly basis to improve appointment scheduling
- Assisting in the Cold-Chain Initiative by providing product temperature data on the process flow from the Distribution Center to a Store
Who is eligible for the Internship Program?
Students eligible for the Logistics Management Internship Program must meet the following criteria:
- Entering their Junior or Senior year in the upcoming Fall semester, or attending Graduate School at an accredited college or university
- Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Students majoring in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Distribution Center Management or Industrial Engineering should apply
- Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, for the duration of the program (approximately 10 weeks)
- Submit completed application by the deadline
- Pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check
- Have local housing for length of Summer Intern Program
- Have strong leadership and communication skills and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team, as demonstrated with involvement in extracurricular activities

We require the following documents to be mailed by March 9, 2012 for consideration in the program. Documents received later than March 9, 2012 cannot be considered.
- Cover Letter: Indicate why you are applying for an internship with CVS Caremark.
- Unofficial Copy of Transcript: Undergraduate students, please include your undergraduate transcript; graduate students, it is only necessary to submit your graduate transcript to date.
- Letter of Recommendation: This should be written by a faculty advisor, previous employer, or other leader from an organization you have been involved in. If the individual writing your letter of recommendation wants to submit the letter directly, please have them follow the same instructions for e-mailing documents below.
